Dr Michael Holt is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who trained in Queensland on the Australian Orthopaedic Programme, receiving his FRACS Specialist Certification in 1990.
At the end of his training, Dr Holt sought further Orthopaedic speciality experience in London in Sports Injury and Nerve Injury and Reconstruction.
Since 1993 he has worked at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital as a surgeon, in a full-time capacity as Director of Orthopaedics for 6 years and for 14 years as a part-time surgeon. Dr Holt's current role at the RBWH is a sub-specialty surgeon in knee and shoulder surgery and in general orthopaedic trauma.
Dr Holt operates privately at the Mater Private Hospital, Brisbane Private Hospital and performs Intermediate Private surgery at Royal Brisbane Hospital. He also works in provincial Queensland at Gympie, Gladstone and Rockhampton Hospitals on a weekly basis.
Dr Holt is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) and serves on the Medical Assessment Tribunal and has served on the Medical Assessment Tribunal for Q-Comp since 1999.
He has a keen interest in sports injury generally and rugby in particular and holds further qualification with a 'Graduate Certificate in Rugby Studies' from QUT Kelvin Grove. Dr Holt is also a keen rugby coach.
